Hello from Amed-North Eastern Bali. George and I are now slow travelers and just spent our seventh night at the Bali Amed (for a total of ten in Amed so far!) We are enjoying relaxing and snorkeling in Amed and Tulamben.
A highlight of the last two weeks was returning to Ubud to stay in the rice fields at Ganesh in Ubud and see the cremation ceremony for the King. We learned about it while we were in Ubud and chose to return to see this incredible parade, creations of bulls and towers and the cremation. We learned that the ashes of the King would be taken to Sanur to be released into the sea. As we watched the enormous Bull burn, I turned to George and said, "All of life is so transient, I am glad we are here together experiencing another culture and enjoying each day as much as we can together."
We have been away more than one month-but it really feels like five minutes. I am enjoying this adventure. It is so different from when we went away in 2008 and I was constantly wondering, "Will our relationship work out? Will we ever get engaged? Will George leave me in Bangkok?" I was nervous but now I feel secure in my relationship and in my ability to be a good travel partner! Let the games begin! Enjoy the Olympics! Thanks for reading our posts and for all your comments!
