Hello from Agra and home of the most beautiful building in the world, the Taj Mahal. Our time in India has stretched from Thanksgiving until nearly Valentine's Day. We have seen incredible highlights on our journey nearly all the way around India. (See our map so far above or on our site at Our Trip with all our posts since July 2012 when we left on this sabbatical journey.)
Our sites have ranged from religious places like Ghats, synagogues, Hindu Temples, and Mosques, to Palaces and beaches, from home of leaders like Mother Teresa, Buddha and Ghandi, to all kinds of animals, so much beauty and so much trash. After hundreds of hours on local buses, we have seen every kind of community from rich to impoverished and surprising moments like the several men traveling in handcuffs surrounded by uniformed officers yet traveling on the local buses near us as well as a young woman traveling with three young children one with no pants-- as in naked from the waist down.
As they say here, "In India, everything is possible." On or near February 11th, we will head into Nepal. More stories, videos and photos if we have wifi, power, electricity and someday we would love to try hot water again. I seem to remember it.
Thank you to everyone who has shared our journey literally on the road with us or by reading and commenting on our newsletter and website! Lisa and George (Click here to sign up for this newsletter. )
